Your iPhone Won't Turn on Or Charge? Learn How to Deal with It

Two of the most common problems users deal with are related to the iPhone not turning on and the iPhone doesn't charge. So, today, we will show you how you can easily fix both.

Your iPhone Won't Turn on Or Charge?

When your iPhone isn't turning on, this may be due to software crashes or a hardware problem. So, the first thing you need to discover is why your iPhone isn't turning on. To determine if it is a software or hardware problem, the easiest is to find if there is a software problem. So, here are the fixes for a software crash:

#1: Do A Hard Reset:

To do a hard reset, you just need to press and hold down the power button and the volume up & down button at the same time for about 10 seconds. You should wait until you see Apple's logo on the screen.Your iPhone Won't Turn on Or Charge Learn How to Deal with It 02

One of the reasons why this solution tends to work almost all times is since you may have your iPhone on while it seems to be off because it isn't responding. Since the screen is all black and not responding, you tend to assume that it is off.

#2: Backup and Restore:

In case you confirmed that you have a software issue, then the best thing you can do is a backup and restore an iPhone.

#3: Check Your Charger and Lightning Cable:

Sometimes, the reason why your iPhone won't turn on or charge is that your charger cable and lightning cable are not working well. So, to ensure that this isn't the problem, you should try charging your iPhone with a different charger.

Notice that sometimes, your iPhone may charge when it is connected to your laptop but not with the regular wall charger.

#4: Check iTunes:

If you still haven't been able to turn on your iPhone, you should plug your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. In case it detects your iPhone, you should do a backup. If you notice all those common noises, this may mean that you're having a problem with a display. On the other hand, in case iTunes doesn't detect your iPhone, you should try doing a hard reset while your iPhone is connected to your computer.

In case you still can't turn on your iPhone, then you should have a hardware problem.

Your iPhone Won't Charge

Maybe you’re worried about your iPhone battery drain too fast and finding ways to solve it. But, since your iPhone won't charge, you are probably wondering if you need a new battery. But in most cases, the answer is no. The main reason is that this is a problem that is related to software 99% of the time. So, replacing the battery won't do any good.

Possible Fixes:

#1: Hard Reset:

When your iPhone battery won't charge, the first solution that you should try is a hard reset. This is not the most effective solution as it is also the simplest one.

If your iPhone X won't charge, you should quickly press and release the volume up button. Then, quickly press and release the volume down button. Finally, press and hold the power button until you see Apple's logo appearing in the display. Then, let go. You should be able to charge your iPhone now.

#2: Carefully Inspect Your Lightning Cable:Your iPhone Won't Turn on Or Charge Learn How to Deal with It 03

When your iPhone 11 won't charge, you need to carefully inspect your USB cable to ensure that it is working. Look at both ends of the USB since these are prone to fraying especially the one that connects to your iPhone. In case you see any wear sign, this may mean that you need to replace the cable.

#3: Try A Friend's Cable:

Just because your iPhone battery won't charge using your cable, this doesn't mean that your friend's cable won't work either. So, just ask a friend and try it. In most cases, you will see that this works.

Besides, you can also try to charge your iPhone using both the wall adapter as well as your laptop. Some iPhones will only charge one way or the other, not both.

Bottom Line

As you can see, just because your iPhone battery won't turn on or charge doesn't mean that you need to replace it or that you need to buy a new battery. In most cases, the solutions are related to software which is a good thing since you can fix these at home.
